An awful lot of change has taken place in Antigua in the past 24 years, since my first trip to watch the England v W.Indies Test Match played at the newly created 52nd Test Venue-The Antigua Recreation Ground, St. John's Antigua, March, 1981. Some things, thankfully have remained very much the same. The island, the sun, the people and their enthusiasm for the game of cricket remains as great as it was 25 years ago. At a chance meeting with the then Antiguan Minister of Sports, Hon. Sen. Guy Yearwood in March 1999 a Youth Cricket Tour to Antigua was first proposed and after some too-ing and fro-ing came to fruition in October 2000. The second Antigua Youth Cricket Tour returned October 2001. It was during this visit that a friendly hotelier (very friendly, because the whole team was fed at his hotel for two nights free gratis) suggested that adult team tours should be organised- thus "Cricket In Antigua" was born.
Time to thank Philip Jones, General Manager, Sunsail Club Colonna for all his help and assistance with the tour programmes. Also, on behalf of St. Paul's Cricket Club, Antigua thank you Philip Jones for the assistance with our tours to the U.K.
